In 1884, Sturgis and Brigham undertook renovations of the Pratt house, including adding a 3-story building extension measuring 5 x 24 and another 3-story extension measuring 13 x 27.6.

Pratt grew up in Watertown, Mass. and was a multi-millionaire in the oil business with John D. Rockefeller. He likey knew Charles Brigham personally.
